About Us

Dika Equity and Development Foundation (DEDF) is a Nigerian nonprofit organisation established to advance equity, dignity and inclusion by addressing the barriers that prevent people from accessing and benefiting from opportunities.

An opportunity may exist, yet remain out of reach because someone lacks information, cannot afford the cost, faces inaccessible services or carries care responsibilities that limit their time. Unequal decision-making within households and communities can further restrict people’s choices. We believe these barriers deserve attention alongside the opportunities themselves.

Our approach begins with listening to people and understanding their everyday realities. We consider how household decisions, community expectations and the policies and services of institutions affect people’s choices. This helps us identify where change is needed and how people, communities and institutions can contribute.

We are committed to using evidence, learning with communities and building respectful, accountable partnerships. Our aim is to make opportunities more accessible and strengthen people’s ability to make informed choices, participate in decisions and improve their lives.

DEDF THRIVE is being developed around this commitment. Its approach starts with individuals and households, then considers the changes needed within communities, services and institutions to address the barriers they face.
